A forward facing dome display incorporates a spherical segment shape which presents visual media as it exists in the real world to a user. Dome shaped displays are highly advanced and broadly used in training simulators today.
A person (user) detects visual information from a fixation point on or near the horizon with limited degrees of peripheral vision.
Human vision has standard central vision lines of sight which are 60 degrees horizontal and 60 degrees vertical with upper limit peripheral vision at 124 degrees horizontal and 120 verticals.
A full surround dome display incorporates spherical and hemispherical shapes which presents visual media above and around the user. These types of dome shapes are generally used for planetariums, immersive entertainment, and immersive art exhibitions.
In normal circumstances a person (user) detects visual information from a fixation point on or near the horizon, but within a full surround dome display the user looks up or is seated in a position to look up.
A transitional dome display incorporates spherical, flat and cylindrical shapes which blends visual media throughout a complete surrounding. These types of dome shapes Integrate well in immersive architectural and entertainment environments.
In normal circumstances a person (user) detects visual information from a fixation point on or near the horizon, but within a transitional dome display the user is provided various visualization options from seated to standing to 360 degree viewing angles.
